Do I need the internet to play?
Yes. The rooms run in your browser but are served online, which is what powers the leaderboard and keeps your key tied to one device. A normal home connection is plenty. The narration uses the voices built into your computer.
What do I need to run it?
A laptop or desktop with Chrome or Edge, and sound turned on. Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebooks all work. One screen everyone can see is ideal — a TV or projector works well too.
Do I have to print anything?
No. Everything, including every document, is on screen.
How many people can play?
One to six around a single screen. Three or four is the sweet spot: enough eyes for the documents, few enough that everyone gets a turn.
How long does it take?
Each room is a 30-minute timer, plus roughly five to ten minutes of story and setup before the clock starts. Allow about 45 minutes in total.
Can we play it more than once?
Every attempt is a freshly generated case: different numbers, a different culprit, different answers. If time runs out, or you leave and come back, you get a new case for free. Once you beat a room it is complete and your time is on the leaderboard.
What age is it for?
Best for about 12 and up. The puzzles involve careful reading, arithmetic and cross-referencing documents. Younger players have a great time as part of a team.
What if we get completely stuck?
There is a built-in hint button that nudges without giving the answer away, at the cost of time. If the clock beats you, the next attempt is free.
Can someone deaf or hard of hearing play?
Yes. All narration is also printed on screen as text. Crush Depth has one puzzle based on knocking sounds. If you cannot hear them, email me and I will help.
How is it delivered, and what about refunds?
Your licence key is emailed instantly after payment. Access is delivered immediately, so the usual 14-day cooling-off period does not apply once you have redeemed a key. But if a room will not run on your device, email me within 14 days and I will refund you.
